I’ll never forget the CYO championship game in 20014. My team had cruised through the season with a high-powered offense, but when we faced a basic 2-3 zone, our youth zone offense fell apart completely.
There I stood, watching helplessly as my talented players looked lost – mindlessly passing around the perimeter, forcing desperate shots, and eventually hanging their heads in defeat.
That game changed everything for me.
The following Monday, I began what would become a journey of research, experimentation, and refinement to find a universal youth zone offense.
I studied film and college teams, consulted with top high school coaches, and tested countless drills and concepts with my players.
What emerged wasn’t just another set of plays – it was a simple set of rules that any youth team could master.
The breakthrough came when I realized that dominating zone defenses isn’t about having elite shooters or complex schemes – it’s about having the right method that builds confidence through clear, repeatable actions.
Fast forward to today, and coaches are sharing their struggles against zone defenses.
That’s what drives me to share this method with coaches who are ready to give their players the tools they need to score consistently against any zone defense.
